We all have that one friend who can't stop talking about how great racing is and why you, as a cyclist who just rides for fun and doesn't race, should give it a try. Mate, that one is right. You might have done a few time trials and liked how it felt to push yourself. You may have done a time trial before and hated how it made you feel. You should enter a bike race no matter what, and here are five reasons why.
Actually, bike race aren't that hard, or they don't have to be. Sit in the middle of the bunch at a local crit if you want to ride around at 25 miles per hour without trying. You'll have to push it out of some corners, but if the track is mostly flat, you don't have to do much else and can just float around at a high speed. This is the best way to show off on Strava, and if you click "manage my group" and then "unpair" from everyone else in the race, your friends will think you did it all by yourself. Jean-Philippe and Michelle met six years ago when he submitted a sublease application for Michelle's flat, and over the course of their blossoming romance, Brightline provided transportation to and from many of their romantic outings. They rode the Brightline together as they toured South Florida and fell in love, the romanticism of train travel playing an indisputable role.
According to an interview Megan gave to Travel + Leisure, the couple's favorite date activity has always been riding Brightline. "Whenever my fiancé was trying to impress me or take me on a nice, romantic getaway, [or] stress reliever from work, Brightline was always kind of part of that journey," Megan said. It was the train travel itself, though, that always got me thrilled. That's what made for the 'adventure' in the date."
As such, the joyful couple, seeking the perfect wedding site and a means of bringing together their diverse families, decided to tie the knot aboard the Brightline and expose their guests to the vibrant, cutting-edge trains they had come to love.
Megan explains that the couple wanted their guests to feel like they were part of an adventure by planning a destination wedding. When considering possible locations, the bride and groom said, "Going into a church or the courthouse or on the beach — all of those are lovely places, but I felt the experience and the movement and us going on an adventure together with both of our families was extremely essential."
Champagne, "love potion" drinks, and light nibbles were served in the Premium lounge when the couple and 34 guests arrived at the West Palm Beach station; afterwards, the bride and her family used the station's special "bridal room" to get ready for the wedding.
The ceremony began with a song performed by the groom's sister as the wedding party boarded a special Premium train car in West Palm Beach and traveled to Fort Lauderdale. After Megan and Jean-Philippe spoke their vows and kissed for the first time as husband and wife, Brightline workers made the official announcement. -
